The shows this weekend were really so lovely. We always love visiting Guelph, a special place for us since most of us go/went to school there, and it was a super awesome sold out show. Thank you Guelph! It was our first time in St. Catharines but you sure brought out the warmth of the city. I am not used to people singing along, so thank you for that, it was such a nice feeling. London, the Forest City that we always hear about, you were great. So supportive to the new Emerging London nights and you packed the new APK Live. Great space, nice vibes all around. Thanks to Paterson for setting up a bumpin show and our friends Bruce Peninsula for tearing the roof off. We ended the weekend by playing at one of our favourite venues in Canada – the Grist Mill. It’s a beautiful historic, wooden mill by the river in Waterloo. Always all ages, always so quiet, and always the most rewarding show to end a tour with. So thank you for being so fantastic.
TO BE NOTED: We really do love cupcakes here at Forest City Lovers headquarters. In fact, if you gave me a cupcake I probably would be more than just a little excited. They are just such bundles of celebration! So imagine our surprise when the lovely Grace Kelly showed up to our London show with handmade custom cakes for our tasting pleasure?! We were stoked to say the least. Look at these things, they are so amazing! And make sure to visit her Facebook page and drool over the amazing work there (my fav is the crazy bacon cake!).

We have a new video coming out this week – we’ll give you details in the next few days. Montreal this weekend for Pop Montreal and our boys kicking ass on the hockey team (I am the cheerleader this time, but next time, I’m in!).

We’d like to give a big shout out to all our friends, new and old, that we met this weekend at our shows in Peterborough, Ottawa and Kingston. We had a blast and we can’t wait to get back there. Some highlights included (other than playing and in no particular order) our photo shoot with a unicorn head, discovering a “weighted vest” at our friends house and making Kyle do push ups in it (it weighed like 25kg!); getting sugar-high on Nanaimo bars, sleeping really well and Apple Jacks for breakfast.
Oh, and look what Claire brought us:
That’s the Tri-Cities (Guelph/Kitchener-Waterloo) weekly. Almost all Forest City Lovers collaborators live/d in Guelph for school, or just hung out there a lot over the last few years, so it was a nice surprise.

Cheesy? Psh, that joke was pure gold. It’s TIFF time. For the unfamiliar, that is the Toronto International Film Festival. It comes to town every September, and ultimately people go wild stalking celebreties and trying to get into fancy parties that are actually sort of lame because no celebreties show up. I haven’t seen any yet, but we’re keeping our eyes peeled (not really). Mainly though, we’re hoping to check out some of the fantastic films premiering in our fine town. We’d like to congratulate local director/producer team Darragh McDonald and Mike McMillian on their short film Love, Marriage and Miscarriage (which features our song ‘Orphans’ in the soundtrack) for getting into the festival.

We’re starting to play again, after our vacation time, and we’ll be hitting up Eastern Ontario this weekend. Peterborough, Ottawa and Kingston – you’re up! We’re looking forward to spending time in some of our favourite cozy venues.
We recently recorded a segment for CBC’s Definitely Not the Opera that involved playing a song on mine and Mika’s old street, hugging a tree and telling stories. It airs sometime next week (check CBC.ca for your regional station times.)

Over the weekend we shot a video with Ryan Marr (www.ryanmarr.com) for “Tell Me, Cancer”. It was a flash-like-lightening shoot and it was lots of fun. We’re all dead tired now from running around the city and dancing up a storm. I won’t give any more away… thanks to our great crew and volunteers. Here are some screen shots!
